From the Pastor's Desk

Welcome everyone to Saint Gertrude's Church!

I am Father Paul Magyar and I am very excited to be your new Pastor. I was born in Slovalkia and immigrated to Canada with my parents in 1990. I attended Saint Cecilia Elementary School and Bishop Allen Academy High School in Toronto. I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto and graduated in 2004. I then entered Saint Augustine's seminary and studied to be a priest for the next 5 years.

I spent my internship year at Saint Paul's in Alliston. In 2008 I did my diaconate summer placement here at Saint Gertrude's with Fr. Ed Murphy. I was ordained a priest by Cardinal Thomas Collins in 2009.

I have served as associate Pastor at both Saint Barnabas Church in Scarborough and Saint Anne's Church in Brampton. I then became pastor of Tay Township and Oro Medonte for 4 parishes: Saint John, Saint Louis, Saint Mary, and Sacred Heart.

Now, I am back at Saint Gertrude's Parish and very glad to be here.

In Christ,

Fr. Paul Magyar
